Frequently Asked Questions
What happens during a consultation?
During a 15-minute consultation, Attorney Datta will review your situation, identify your options, and recommend next steps. The 30-minute consultation goes deeper — it includes a discussion of timelines, risks, and a personalized document checklist you can use to start gathering materials right away.
Do you offer virtual consultations?
Yes. Most consultations are conducted by phone or video. In-person meetings at our Burlington office are available for complex matters that benefit from document review.
What does "credited toward retainer" mean?
If you decide to retain AKT Law after your consultation, the consultation fee you already paid is subtracted from the retainer deposit. For example, if you paid $100 for a 30-minute consultation and the retainer deposit is $1,500, you would owe $1,400 at signing.
Can I bring a family member to the consultation?
Yes. If a family member is directly involved in your immigration matter — for example, a petitioning spouse or parent — they are welcome to join. Please mention this when you book so we can plan accordingly.
